PROPERTIES OF LYSIN
Lysine is an essential amino acid (it cannot be produced by our body) that in recent years has gained a reputation for its ability to cure the symptoms of herpes (herpes simplex). In combination with vitamin C (1,000mg daily) and bioflavonoids, it reduces the frequency and severity of episodes, while reducing (by half) the healing time of wounds. It may also help to some extent in preventing infection with the virus. The best dosage appears to be 1,000mg (2 500mg tablets) three times daily between meals, until healing is achieved. Then a maintenance dose of 500mg per day, to avoid recurrences. Lysine significantly increases intestinal absorption, while reducing renal excretion of calcium. Therefore, it is used (especially in combination with calcium supplements) against osteoporosis.
